3-5 CLEANSING- LEMON CLEANSE

It's been 7 months since I did a Master lemon cleanse, that lasted 7 days of what is a 10 day recommended cleansing. After that week I have decided to not eat meat to include Pork, Beef and chicken. I guess you can say I am a pescatarian and a Lacto-ovo vegetarian since to I do consume eggs and dairy products.

I originally planned for a 1 month meat free diet then I challenged myself to another and another which brings us to the present. I tried to eat chicken last week and it wasn't a  pleasant experience.

Lately, while on a 5:2 diet,  I have been slightly careless with my salt and sugar intake so I though I would do a Lemon cleanse for  3 or 5 days just to give my kidney and liver a break and some good old makeover.

It's so funny I had to go back and copy the list from my Sept 7 post.

What you need:

1 set measuring spoons to just the tbsp and a tsp
Organic Maple Syrup
Organic Lemons
Organics Cayenne Pepper
Dieter's tea - decaffeinated
Sea Salt- (never iodized)
Purified water

RECIPE
2 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 tbsp Maple syrup
1/10 tsp of Cayenne Pepper (or more to taste
8 oz of purified water

Lately I have been slightly careless with my salt and sugar intake so I though I would do a Lemon cleanse for  3 or 5 days jsu to give my kidney and liver a break.

So wish me luck!!

5:2 Diet ROMAINE HEARTS- ARUGULA-TUNA SALAD

An easy, fast, yet very filling and satisfying salad meal.

I love romaine hearts, it's crunchy, sweet, has that bite and of course my all time favorite, Arugula, (roquette) These 2 leaves with a can of tuna and a spray of olive oil and you're done.

The only canned items I consume on a Fast day is Albacore tuna in water. 1 can is 120 cal This plus the leaves and a 2 sprays of Olive oil spray, salt and pepper and you're set. Approx. 143 calories

5:2 Diet- ROASTED CAULIFLOWER

No, I didn't build a house yesterday during a fast but I got through it quite easily, one of those easy fast days. I guess the "psyche yourself" worked. Today, Thursday, April 4,  I feed till Sunday, taking note of the changes on my meal choices cutting down on sugars,  simple carbs and to be careful not to overeat!  So help me God!!!

And this is one of the reason why I'm always on the look out for low cal recipe's and I thought this would be a delicious dish for both Fast and Feed days. So I calculated the ingredients at Myfitnesspal and came up with these numbers.

Roasted Cauliflower with Chai Curry Spice, Apricots, Mint and Yogurt

Recipe courtesy John Fraser, chef at Dovetail in New York City
2 tablespoons Madras curry powder
1 tablespoon chai tea
1 tablespoon Assam tea, or other black tea
½ teaspoon sugar, divided
1 teaspoon salt, divided
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 head of cauliflower, broken down into
medium-sized florets
6 pieces dried apricots, medium dice
Mint, small leaves only
In a medium saucepan set over low heat, combine the Madras curry powder, chai tea and black tea, and toast for about 5 minutes. Add half of the sugar and salt, then transfer to a spice grinder and pulse the mixture into a fine powder.
Place the Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon of water, olive oil and the remaining salt and sugar into a bowl and whisk together.
Preheat oven to 450˚F. Toss the cauliflower florets in olive oil, and roast them on a sheet pan for approximately 12 minutes, or until tender and browned. They should be crispy at the edges and al dente at the core. Sprinkle the chai curry spice on top of the roasted cauliflower flourets.
To serve, spread the seasoned Greek yogurt onto four plates, and top with the cauliflower florets. Place the diced apricots and mint around the florets. Serves 4.
